Arizona Surgical Tech Tests Positive for HIV, Patients At Risk

A few months ago we told you about a former Arizona surgical tech, Robert Allen, “Rocky,” who put patients at risk for Hepatitis B & C and HIV at two valley hospitals: HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center and Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, as well as in Colorado. Allen was accused of swapping needles to inject the painkiller fentanyl – leading 3,000 patients in Arizona and Colorado to be recommended for testing.
Most of these patients have been tested and fortunately, no cases of hepatitis or HIV have surfaced. But about 500 people have yet to get tested and the importance of doing so is even greater now that the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday that Allen has tested positive for HIV.
